RheoChart Release Notes

Version 1.3 build 661 (10 April 2012)

This upgrade includes several bug fixes and enhancements. It is available for any personal or professional license acquired on or after the the 10th April 2012.

New Features
  • Strain shear rate is now available as an output for the multi-ramp shear rate
  • For multi-ramp properties, the integration time step is adapted so that it goes through the ramp points
  • Improved robustness of curve import by attempting to detect the file encoding (UTF-8,...)
  • Improved logging at startup, so that any initialisation messages is shown in the main window
Fixes
  • Fixed rare crash occurring when fitting linear properties without constraints
  • Fitting in the mode panel, was not renamed properly after a fitting was renamed
  • Student License was sometimes failing to register
Version 1.2 build 609 (02 October 2011)

This upgrade includes several bug fixes and enhancements. It is available for any personal or professional license acquired on or after the the 3rd October 2011.

New Features
  • New property: Multi-ramp shear rate
  • It is possible to copy/paste models, mode, properties or fittings
  • When deleting a curve/model/mode/property/fitting, the confirmation step can be disabled
  • Models and Fittings can now be renamed
  • There is an option to have the project file written in a uncompressed XML format
  • Multiple modes of the same types can be added at once
  • Stresses component can now be visualised in addition to the selected property
  • Marker can be optionally displayed on "Model" curves
Fixes
  • Chart name of first chart was not displayed properly in the curve selector dialog
  • Settings were sometimes not properly saved
  • Updated bundled JRE to 1.6 Update 27
Version 1.1 build 532 (29 December 2010)

This Build upgrade includes several bug fixes and enhancements. As this is a build upgrade only, it is available independently of the license type.

New Features
  • Multiples curves can be deleted at the same time
  • When selecting a curve for a fitting, double clicking a curve, select the curve and close the dialog
  • It is possible to zoom/unzoom using the mouse wheel
Fixes
  • When drawing an experimental curve, it was sometime not listed in the available curves
  • Curves colour were lost when a curve was deleted
  • Javabuilder library upgraded to version 1.1
Version 1.0 build 522 (18 July 2010)

This is the first official RheoChart release.

New Features
  • RheoChart executable are now signed using a SSL certificate
  • JRE embedded in the "All in One" installer has been upgraded to version 1.6.0_21
Fixes
  • Oldroyd-B: viscous component was not allowed to zero
  • Optimisation: some specific conditions were stopping the optimisation too early
  • The values of the linear parameters for the constant viscosity model were wrong

  • New ODE integrator: RADAU5 which is designed for stiff problem

Fixes
  • When optimising, integration errors are now handled so that the calculation is not stopped
  • Kinematic was not updated properly on the initial step, leading sometimes to convergence problem
  • Constant viscosity model was missing an icon
  • Arrhenius approximate was not available for viscolestic models
  • For the Giesekus model, alpha is now restricted to be smaller or equal than 1.0
  • Loss and storage moduli where appearing twice in the add property dialog
  • When the step size was reduced for output purpose the calculation was sometimes stopped wrongly
  • Filter in import license dialog was not working properly
  • Reading license from saved preferences was sometime not correct
  • Initial time step was not properly calculated when the first output time was smaller than the initial time step
  • FENE-P planar extension was not correctly calculated

  • Error calculation was wrong for Newton-Raphson preventing convergence in some cases
  • Making sure that the dialog asking to save the project when closing RheoChart is not shown when the project has just been saved

Version 1.0a build 327 (25 October 2009)

This Build upgrade includes several bug fixes and enhancements. As this is a build upgrade only, it is available independently of the license type.

Please also note that the RheoChart project files are now saved with the extension rheo and are compressed. So if you have any existing project file that you would like to read with this version, you'll need to gzip the file and change its extension. The extension was changed so that it was easier to associate RheoChart to an extension.

New Features
  • Stopping a fitting that is running is now much faster
  • It is possible to check for updates directly from RheoChart (from the Help menu)
  • Project file are now compressed (in gzip format)
  • The X and Y labels on the axes have been removed
  • Improved Property editor to make temperature and parameters collapsible
  • A confirmation dialog is shown before exiting a project with unsaved changes
  • It is possible to associate RheoChart project file with the extension *.rheo
  • Long running calculation are now showing a busy cursor and a little spinning icon is shown at the top right of the main window
  • Student License upgrade policy is now in accordance with was is described on the web site
  • File History can be disabled from the settings (Need a restart)
  • File filter for license import changed to also include *.txt files
  • Logging is now done in the user Application Data folder instead of the installation folder
  • Upgraded library log4j to the latest version (1.2.15)
  • Added dependency on library JDIC

  • Error scaling of properties in a fitting was not always respected
  • Restoring original parameters in a fitting was not always working properly
  • Various logging (or debugging) messages have been disabled
  • Better handling of numerical errors while integrating
  • Uninstaller was not removing all files
